The ministers of foreign affairs of the member states of the European Union ( EU ) finally agreed on Monday, March 18, to allocate an additional five billion euros of military aid to Ukraine from the European Peace Fund.

During the voting, Hungary once again "constructively abstained", as the State Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Relations Zoltan Kovacs commented.

Kuleba called on the EU to speed up the provision of military aid

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, who took part in the meeting online, expressed gratitude for this step, but at the same time called on his colleagues from the EU to speed up the provision of military aid.

Thus, Kuleba called on the European partners to make all the necessary decisions as soon as possible to increase and accelerate the supply of weapons and ammunition for the Ukrainian military, as well as the development of the defense industries of the European Union and Ukraine.

The minister thanked the Czech Republic for the timely initiative to purchase artillery ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and all EU member states that have already made their contributions to its implementation. "I call on those who are still thinking about contributions to make them as soon as possible. This applies not only to the Czech initiative, but also to several other similar initiatives. Every day is important," Kuleba emphasized.

Against the background of the Kremlin's threats to NATO and the EU, Kuleba emphasized that Ukrainian soldiers are now the only line of European defense against aggressive Putin's Russia, which seeks to destroy Europe and the normal life of millions of Europeans. "The Ukrainian soldier is Europe's only hope for preserving peace. There should be no restrictions or delays in providing the Ukrainian military with everything they need to break the backbone of the Russian occupation forces on Ukrainian soil," the minister said.
